It was so nice to leave school in the dust and go home! I was really excited because my whole family was able to make it up! McKay and I were also interested to see the damages of the tornado, which was surprisingly not much. Here is a picture of the Metra which was about the only evidence of the tornado. It was weird to see it that way.
On Saturday morning my sister Megan ran a 5k with a couple of her friends. Jessica her husband Jorden and their son Krew and I went and cheered her on. I wish I got a pic of us cheering, it was pretty fun. She did awesome! RUN MEGAN RUN! : )
My family except for Megan (who was preparing for her run) and my brother Scott who was on his way
The white MJ! aka Chase
The Bassetts being goofy. The kids were playing in it then Shelly and Ken decided to join in.
That night we played a really fun game. We were all laughing the whole time. The pictures may seem weird. But I guess you have to know the game
Mckay and me during the game (McKay's face looks like he's wondering what family he married into) : ) Don't worry I saw him laughing pretty hard too!
McKayla on the way up to Red Lodge was keeping us pretty entertained.
Me with McKayla on my shoulders during the best parade in the world. : ) Well I love it! It's the Red Lodge parade that my family always go to every 4th of July
All the kiddos ready to get some candy! I remember getting tons of candy each year from this parade, but they seem to do less now. I don't know if that's because I was young or that they are getting skimpier
McKay eating a s'more while making a s'more. I don't think life can get better than that!
Megan using me as a seat as I roast a marshmellow
My sister-in-law Kelsey and my brother Scott
McKayla with a Reece's mustache
Jordan with a sparkler. I loved those growing up!
Kailyn being silly! I have about a dozen pictures of her posing
Caden being entranced with his sparkler
McKay playing catch
We use this to haul everything to the fire pit. My uncle Cliff hauling all the kids around
Me, Jordan, and McKay enjoying the fireworks. Which was the best show I had ever seen!
McKay and I ready to get some sleep. We stayed up soo late every night. It was totally worth it though! When we're home our bedtime is around 9:30 and we love it. It took us a while to catch up on our sleep. Especially cause My sis Megan came home to Rexburg with us to see how cool and luxurious the college life is!
So I think everyone's excited that schools out for the summer! sadly this does not include McKay and me. But this does mean that McKay is done busing til the fall. darn it, now he is going to have to spend more time with me! : ) The kids McKay picked up LOVED him! They thought he was the coolest bus driver ever!
McKay and his bus
Here is the lovely McKay modeling our new couches we got on Memorial Day. We love them! I'm having a hard time letting anyone sit on them. I hurried and snapped this picture then made McKay get off it. especially his feet!
Doesn't he look so happy on our new love seat! We have been looking for couches for a few months now and I was having a hard time making such a "big" choice. After our 5 furniture store (well McKay's 5 furnture store, my 10 and that's not including the internet) McKay said ok I am done, I never want to go to another furniture store again! I think this was the 4th picture cause I was having a hard time getting McKay to smile. silly boy!
I love this pic of McKay because this is such a typical McKay smile. Man do I love him! and He's pretty handsome too! : )
Each year good ol' Rexburg has a farmer's market on friday night starting in May going through july. It's fun to see all the cool things people can make. Here's me sporting food storage vanilla milk. when I first heard it I thought it didn't sound very good. Hmm room temp milk, no thanks! But it was actually pretty good!
McKay with his Root beer milk! crazy! He really liked it though. I thought it was pretty good too. I think it brought him back to his childhood. Doesn't he look like a kid in a candy shop with his little milk carton.
Over our week break we went for a drive southeast of Rexburg and we ran into a trail that looked fun so we took it and later on that evening we had a fire, roasted hot dogs and marshmallows!
Last night for dinner I thought it would be fun to make some bread bowls for my clam chowder soup (it was cold and rainy yesterday). So I found a recipe, started making it, then I had to go to what I thought was going to be a short meeting and during that time my bread was rising (bad idea) the meeting lasted twice as long as I thought it would, but I figured they would still be ok.
the beautiful picture of what they were supposed to look like
and my pitiful bread bowl. They turned out square and pretty thin. Well thankfully I have a loving husband...who will eat anything! and He actually said "It was one of my favorite meals!" oh sad! I didn't know if I should be mad or say thank you.
They actually turned out to be good bread sticks though.
Thomas S. Monson - I believe that among the greatest lessons we are to learn in this short sojourn upon the earth are lessons that help us distinguish between what is important and what is not. I plead with you not to let those important things pass you by as you plan for that illusive and non-existent future when you will have time to do all that you want to do. Instead, find joy in the journey -- now.
